Even if you wish it so
by Jennifer Poroye
The seed
cannot be the seed forever
Even if you wish it so
Even if you close your eyes
Even if you fold your hands
The sun will still shine
The rain will still pour
And life will spill on forward
The seed
cannot be the seed forever
Even if you wish it so
Even if its growth isn’t linear
Even if it is left behind
Even if the wait
feels like its own eternity of sorts
Remember that abundance lingers at the corner.
The seed
cannot be the seed forever
Even if you wish it so
For we all know
That change is inevitable,
That every living thing
Must bloom, even if only once
That at one point or another,
we are bound to wax beautiful
Such is as certain a thing
as life itself
