Tip of the Tongue
By: Katherine Goldblatt
I just had it,
on the tip of the tongue.
it was wonderful!
You would have sung praises for it.
That is how wonderful it was.
If only I could recall it.
It shrunk to the size of a crumb,
slipped and swung through the gap between my teeth
and left before I could speak it into existence.
I shall follow it with persistence
and find it.
After all, it was only on the tip of the tongue.
Surely you would have loved it.
I loved it; you would too.
If only I could remember it…
